Touch Screen Laptops Are More Incredible Than You Think

December 8th, 2009

I need to buy a new laptop. Scratch that. I want to buy a new laptop. The one I have is fine. It’s just that I love to shop and buy new things. So last weekend I went looking at laptops. I was surprised to find that many laptops today come with a touch screen.

My experience with touch screen devices isn’t so good. Before, I had this job where I had to carry around a small mini computer, and operate several buttons on the front with a stylus. To say I had a few problems would be an understatement. But the ones I saw at the computer shop were exceptional. Their were many, of course, that were hybrids. That is you could operate them as any normal laptop computer, or you could use them primarily with the touch screen function. After thinking about it, I realized there were several advantages to these wonderful pieces of machinery.

The first is they save you a lot of table space. If you are at a fast food place that has wireless connectivity, like many places do, you don’t have to worry about using a mouse, or trying to use that little square that laptops come with. You can navigate solely through your screen.

It can even be much faster than using a mouse. If you are using the Internet, for example, and you are familiar with the web site you are one it can be much easier just to tap the screen with your finger or a special stylus than to have to scroll your mouse around.

With a touch screen laptop, you can scroll easier as well. It’s much like grabbing and moving a piece of paper. You aren’t restricted to the two dimensional movements that you’d get if you were only using the mouse.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized that pretty soon, everybody will be using touch screen laptops to do there everyday computing.
